Anyone like tennis? The US Open kicks off today, and my Tivo is quivering in anticipation.
Predictions?
As much as I'd love to see Agassi win his final Open (like Sampras in 2002), I just don't think he's got it in him.
The easy choice on the men's side is Federer, but I wouldn't overlook the young Scotsman Andy Murray. He beat Federer in Cincinnatti last week, and he's made tremendous strides since hiring Brad Gilbert as his coach in July. His gain is our loss however, as Gilbert's outrageous commentary for ESPN will be sorely missed.
The women's draw is much more up in the air. The injury to Kim Clijsters (last year's champion, with probably the best hardcourt game on tour) really opens things up. Henin-Hardenne will be there, but the last time she was on a hardcourt under the lights was back in January in Melbourne, when she folded like an accordion against Amelie Mauresmo. I can't root for a quitter. If you're going to go down, go down swinging. She's a coward.
Which is precisely why I like Sharapova's chances. No woman is as tenacious with the racquet. If she serves well, she'll be in the final.

No tennis fans? Really?
Fine, If I'm forced to post videos of Maria Sharapova to drum up interest, then so be it.

I'm convinced Sharapova won just because I posted the video. Maybe she can teach Roddick how to get some first serves in every once in awhile.
