A few days ago I was listening to Market Place on NPR. Near the end of the show was an interview with one of the founders of Coursera, a company with online courses on a multitude of topics. Many of the courses are from instructors at top universities. The founder of Coursera indicated he thought one of the best classes offered was one on learning how to learn. This reminded me of a very interesting book published a few years ago that I read. The book is How We Learn. The author is Benedict Carey. The book goes over research into methods of learning. Included are topics a such as timing and location settings for learning. A few widely held beliefs about learning are de-bunked. Since investing is a learning process I thought I would pass along a book that might help make the learning process more effective. Also, I am planning on taking the learning course recommended by that founder of Coursera. I'll let you know what I think when I am done.
