Over the long-term, of course, significant out-performance can be expected from small company stocks, one of the key reasons investors should maintain a healthy level of exposure to small-caps in their portfolios.

As of mid-2023, some distinct trends relative to small-cap stocks were in place, and investors who could decipher the signs would realize what these signs mean for many small companies.
