InvestEd Early Bird Discount Ends May 1: Save $30!

Investors from around the country plan to gather at InvestEd 2008 to boost their investment knowledge and enjoy the company of other long-term fundamental investors on August 8 through 10 at the Hilton Charlotte University Place Hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The daily countdown for the InvestEd Early Bird registration ends on Thursday, May 1. Early Bird registration is $369. After May 1, registration is $399. StockCentral members receive an additional $10 discount on the InvestEd registration fee. Not a member? Start your StockCentral free trial now!

Early Bird registration guarantees paper copies of the handouts for every InvestEd session as well as the CD with all handouts and supplementary materials from instructors. If you register after Thursday, May 1, you receive only the CD.

It’s handy to have paper handouts when you attend sessions and want to make notes. Since it’s impossible to attend all of the 66 concurrent sessions, you can review the paper copies of the handouts after you return home.

Registration includes the sessions and five meals: breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday plus Saturday dinner. In addition to handouts, attendees receive open access to the Computer Lab and Cyber Cafe during the scheduled hours.

What are the rest of the “Top Ten Reasons to Attend InvestEd“ beyond the general education sessions, Newbie Program, Leadership Training program, top-notch instructors, interaction with software developers, and the Computer Lab?

7. Corporate Sponsors

InvestEd  corporate sponsors help defray the cost of the event. Meal sponsors introduce you to their companies as potential stock investment candidates. They include CVS/Caremark, Enerplus Resources Fund, GE, General Mills, Moog, Procter & Gamble, SAP, and Swift Energy. You are welcome to ask questions after the presentations and the representatives are happy to personally speak with you later.

Other corporate sponsors underwrite a variety of items such as padfolios, tote bags, and badges. Some of them sponsor rooms and set up exhibit tables. They are C. H. Robinson, Donaldson, Duke Energy, National Retail Properties, and Royal Dutch Shell.

InvestEd associates from ICLUBcentral, ManifestInvesting, Churr Software, and QUANT IX SOFTWARE are there to introduce you to their products. Seize the opportunity to speak directly with them to learn about their investing software and web sites.

8. Cyber Cafe

The Cyber Cafe, like all of the conference rooms and your hotel room, has free wireless Internet access, and it is the “happening place” on Friday and Saturday night. Relax with a glass of wine or your favorite libation from the cash bar if you choose. Bring your computer if you like or join in on the spontaneous study groups that form around the room. And enjoy a few good laughs.

Meet informally with instructors, sponsors, and other InvestEd  attendees to brainstorm, share, or screen for stock ideas and learn new stock study techniques, tips, and tricks. Research stock candidates that you heard about from corporate sponsors and session instructors.

Compare and collaborate on stock analyses and exchange favorite web sites. Get extra personal hands-on help from the software people and other savvy geeks about software and computer issues.

Geek toy flash! Listen and look for the inevitable one-upmanship competition for the latest and greatest electronic toys.

9. Stock Discoveries, Networking, and Fun

Networking is a key benefit of InvestEd attendance. Many opportunities are available to meet other investors: Computer Lab chats, hallway conversations between sessions, the Cyber Cafe, and sitting around the table at the five meals included in the registration fee: Saturday and Sunday breakfast and lunch, and dinner on Saturday evening.

It’s fun to scan nametags for names and hometowns. Get acquainted with new friends from all parts of the country and maybe other parts of the world. You’ll hear countless shouts of glee when cyberspace friends recognize names and meet face-to-face.

Perhaps you’ll meet individual investors from your area who may be interested in visiting your investment club and might be a potential member. Be sure to pick the brains of experienced club members. For example, find out how other clubs recruit and retain members, implement an education program that assures member participation, improve club operating procedures, and use online tools.

If you’re a volunteer in an investor education group, be on the look-out for prospective new volunteers. Ask current volunteers how their group deals with many of the universal problems that investment clubs encounter in addition to other issues such as volunteer training.

10, Vacation Attractions

If you arrange to come to the Charlotte area before InvestEd  or to stay after, many local and state-wide attractions will greet you. If you like such outdoor activities as golfing, walking/hiking, or water parks, this is your spot. Are you a NASCAR fan? Charlotte is NASCAR’s home town Do you enjoy the scenery of the mountains? Charlotte is within a couple of hours drive to the Great Smoky Mountains. How about going to the beach? Charlotte is only a few hours from historic beach sites and the famous Outer Banks.

Meet with us at InvestEd 2008 August 8 through 10 at the Hilton Charlotte University Place Hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina, for the best-ever investor education event!
