I am currently looking at Neogen. Here is my SSG for it. Has anyone looked at it and formulated opinions they wish to share?
MI has a QR of 83.3 and PAR of 14.8%.

In looking at the Hemscott and the S&P data for Neogen, I see a $0.03 per share difference for the 2Q 05 EPS. Hemscott has it at $0.26 and S&P has it at $0.23. Does anyone know where I can start looking to find out why they are different? I looked at the 10-Q for that quarter and it shows $0.26.
Thanks,

Jeff:
Other troubling differences beteen Hemscott and S&PSDS (old OPS) data are the Historical PEs for NEOG. There are differences for both High and Low PEs in each of the prior five years. The biggest differences are 2003 Lo PE (20.1 hem vs 17.4 ops) and 2004 (20.0 hem vs 17.1 ops).
These differences also showed up with the Alt-M command: hem = 25.3 Hi PE/14.0 Low PE while ops = 23.8 Hi PE/12.9 Low PE. As you probably know, Alt-M is usually the most conservative option provided by TK5 as it eliminates the five highest years and averages the rest.
Did you see NEOG's 1-4-07 release which announced that its net income increased 25% from the prior year's second quarter and that its net income for the first six months of its FY 2007 rose 23%. The company's press release is available from Google Finance which also shows that NEOG's price dropped almost 9% immediately after its announcement (from $22.95 per share to $20.94) to recover somewhat to $21.64 today. Why do you think the market was disapponted?

I believe they came in under consensus and that caused the drop. I listened into their conference call and everything sounded very promising. No segment dropped even though they did have a low growth rate in the area dealing with vole (rodent) control. This was due to an unexpected increase last year versus the year before and this year.
The main problem I see with a company this size is that everything is a big deal. A $1M change is big anywhere it happens.
