Joe, I am still not totally used to using this product. I clicked on SSG's and selected GRMN to open. It did go through the motions and opened my TK5, however, I got the error message Run Time Error 53, file not found. What did I do wrong? Gene |

I'm not sure what you did wrong ... but, I'm able to download and open the file using Toolkit 5. I've done it several ways.
1. Click on GRMN.ssg and the file downloads, opens Toolkit, and then opens GRMN in Toolkit 2. Click on GRMN.ssg and choose the option to save the ssg file to disk. a. Open Toolkit and to a File, Import and select GRMN.ssg b. Double-click on GRMN.ssg which opens GRMN.ssg inside of Toolkit
Might I suggest that you try it again? (Save the file to your disk and then do File, Import from inside of Toolkit.)
---------- And don't fret. At some point (relatively soon) there should be an update to Toolkit that will retrieve the STOCKcentral.com ssg files as easily as you're used to doing it now. |

If you're still getting that error, give me a call. If it's something you can duplicate, even if it's fixed now, I want to know so we can publish a technote.

Is it possible to import a data file in the same manner as is done on the BI website? As best as I can tell, I need to extract a data file from a zip file and then double click on it to bring it into Stock Analyst. Is that the correct procedure?

At present, the distribution method is to use ZIP files, with SSG files organized by ticker. This is because our user interface is under development and isn't quite ready for testing.
Soon you'll be able to search for a ticker or enter a ticker symbol, bring up a Company Report page, and download a single SSG file.
Eventually, upgrades to various software packages will permit them to download files directly. I expect that the software will also be modified so that you easily (one or two clicks) upload your SSG files and analyses to our ticker forums. This should make sharing stock studies much easier, and will permit our software to compile "consensus" judgements. These will also be available in the ticker forums.
What else should we have? |

I opened a couple of SSG's without problem and noticed that the window for inputting projections does not show analysts projections. MSFT was one example. Is that feature going away or just late to the party for now? This window is still jumping around as I type this message and causing red highlights in the left hand column, (blue area). Is there going to be a link/tab to the roster of quality companies? Is this the same source of data as OPS/S&PSDS? If not what are the main differences? |

Will the page view of the SSG ever "fit" the screens of computers? I have never been able to fill the screen with a page. Or is this just because of the different setting of users.

You may be interested to know that the data files download instantly into the Churr Stock Investment Guide software. No workarounds were/are needed.
A couple of questions, however...
1. How would I upload a completed SSG from Churr's software, and,
2. Will the interfaces with the different browsers include Safari from the Mac?

I assume that SIG opens ZIP files and lets you pick a file out of the assemblage?
1. How would I upload a completed SSG from Churr's software, and,
Does the software export to an SSG file or another external file? If so, you would upload that file to the forums. If the software doesn't export to an external file ... you can't.
2. Will the interfaces with the different browsers include Safari from the Mac?
The interfaces are all standard, mostly HTML, so should work with Safari. If you find instances where there seem to be problems, please let me know and I'll fix. (I actually do have access to a Mac and Safari, and one of our team is a Mac user.)

He could "print" to a PDF file if he has a PDF program. Then he could attach the PDF file to a message and everyone could read it regardless of which SSG program they use.

Good idea.
Mac has the ability to print directly to a .pdf file embedded in the print function; no additional software/expense required. |

Yes; I can either double click on the file, or I can search for the file from within the software. |

Many, many years ago I developed an SSG model in Excel that took a data feed from the old Prodigy service. Then I upgraded it to use OPS. I was surprised to see that it still works with this feed as well!
Just a few nits:
1. Would be nice to have a file save as function instead of just a .ssg extension. Or allow it to open in a text window as OPS allowed where it can be copied and pasted. I have to open it in notepad and copy it to excel.
2. In a few tests that I ran I noted that the ACE 5 Year Estimate E/S Growth Rate (line 229) was not in the data.
Still getting around the site, but it looks like a lot of thought and hard work has gone into developing it. Congrats!!

One of the advantages of sticking with the SSG file format for all of these years is that it works with old applications! (That's also one of its disadvantages!)
As for saving the file, you can configure your computer to open SSG files with Notepad.
No, we don't have the ACE estimate because it isn't part of the Hemscott data feed. We are looking for a suitable estimate. Note that we do have insider and institutional ownership numbers.

I'm glad you finally addressed this issue which Danny Matthews raised one month ago (on 10-15)
Would you please clarify whether the Hemscott data uses CY or FY prices?
Here's hoping we don't have to wait long for an answer

Armin Fields I hope that this is quick enough, Armin!
StockCentral's SSG files contain FISCAL YEAR high and low prices, based on daily closing prices.
Should you find errors in the data, please report them by posting a message in The Infirmary.

Follow up to the question about FY vs Calendar Year. Is the high & low price in sec. three a 52 week H/L or calendar year? I wasn't usre if you were talking about the data box (Col. a & b), or the top line with present price then high and low. Thanks |

Thanks Section 3(a) refers to "this year." I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be the FY high and low (Because the years on a Stock Selection Guide are fiscal years).
The annual high and low prices are Fiscal Year prices.

New User Alethia When you click on which data header?
The one that you should click is the one that lives just to the right of the "community" tab here at StockCentral. You obviously can see the community tab, since you're here and posting messages. Which other tabs to you see?

Joe,
I have encountered an interesting (not very serious) problem with opening posted SSG files. I generally double-click the link and Toolkit opens with the SSG displayed.
The exception is Ralph Seger's LLL SSG. When I double-click the link, Toolkit opens but Ralph's SSG is not on view.
I can't explain the difference and I'm hoping someone else can. I know I can download the file to my desktop and import it from there but I'd rather not have to go to that much trouble.

Are you sure that your problem was with the SSG file and not the ITK file. If you clicked on the ITK file and it didn't open, that's probably because your computer isn't configured to open ITK files automatically. On my system, clicking the ITK file results in a download only.
But, if you're clicking the SSG file and it's not opening, please try to provide more details, or contact ICLUBcentral's Tech Support group for help. |

Oooops! Got a problem.
Before, I indicated that I could click on the get SSG link, and the action would open up my SSG in Churr's Stock Investment Guide software. Now, it seems as if that capability is gone forever.
When I go to data and enter a ticker symbol and follow up by clicking on SSG data, it appears that nothing happens.
A little help (maybe alot) would be appreciated.
Thanks,

I'm not sure that I can help.
Which program is loaded when a file is downloaded is a configuration issue on your computer. Have you changed anything on your computer recently? In Windows this is a "File Association" issue. Is this called a "Finder Preference" still on Macs? What you need to do is tell your computer what downloaded SSG files (of type SSG) should be passed to the Churr product and opened when you download the file.
It's troubling that your browser doesn't seem to indicate that something is happening when you click a link. You should see something, perhaps a dialog box. Have you changed or updated your browser? |

Thanks, Joe.
The file is supposed to download directly to a Download folder, and apparently the folder, which is supposed to become visible on the desktop at the time of downloading the file was being hidden by the stockcentral screen. Everything is working fine.
