Take $tock is showing "subscript out of range" errors for BRL and QSII. The program will crash rather than letting one pass on the individual stock.

QSII looks fine.
BRL's a mess - I ran it in Toolkit 5 (at Irving's suggestion, thanks Irving!) and it's showing me that the data feed's from Barr Phar, the company name is blank...looks like the fields are off. It's BI's data feed, so I've passed it along to their data folks. |

I am using the original Take $tock 4 program, the one authored by Ellis Traub.
The same error continued to show up this morning for BRL. It is a Run Time Error #9 and Subscript out of range.

The problem with BRL (and I suspect much of the other data) is that, when the SSG file was created, they added nine quarters of sales, EPS, and Dividend data where there were spaces for only eight quarters of each. This slid all of the rest of the data down three fields from where it was supposed to be and completely corrupted fields 218 through the remaining 319 fields in the file. It's no wonder things just didn't work!

| Might want to tell Suzi Artzberger that...she's still working on it. |

During a data update this morning, more of the "subscript out of range" errors showed up in both Take $tock 4 and Toolkit. With Toolkit, the program locks up and I cannot even see what stock caused the program to crash. Right now, the database is a mess, and it is more than one or two stocks causing the problem. I did identify HSIC as one problem, but then I was able to get that one to work. BRL is still a problem.

Which data feed are you updating from? If it's the NAIC datafeed, then Ellis' message in this thread seems appropriate. You should let NAIC know that they've broken their data feed.

Lowell:
There's no question but that the BI database is screwed up...still. The problem I cited in my earlier post is not the only thing that's messed up either.
I tried importing all of the Complete Roster into both of the desktop Take $tock products and could not get through the list without plenty of those Runtime Error 9s showing up and, when it was all said and done and I had finished the job, the resulting output was, for many of the companies, unusable.
This is only conjecture; but I heard that BI data would be updated and one of the benefits of the update was to be more "robust" bank data. I'll just bet that, in the process of "updating" the SSG feed, they probably changed some things that had unexpected consequences and they put them out without adequate testing. (It happens.)
Anyway, we all hope they get it fixed posthaste. Far too many have come to depend upon that data for our work. |

Ok, Suzi reported BRL as fixed, and it checked out in both TS and TK5.
Any other tickers reporting problems for OPS, go ahead and call BI and tell them to pass Suzi the ticker.
