Sally, I'm delighted that you now permit the user to hit the [Enter] key to input a new ticker symbol. When I had to use the "Retrieve" button, it was a bit of a pain in the tush. Now, if you could make one more refinement for me it would be perfect: When you [Enter] the ticker and the program imports the data and does the stock study, would you please have the cursor find its way back into the Ticker box so I don't have to use my mouse to put it there. If you will do that, it will make my job of reviewing a whole lot easier.
Thanks.

Calculating the median of all 10 PEs (rather than the average of the 5 lowest) is what the desktop version of Take Stock does when you have not marked any outliers manually. Since the web-based TakeStock does not allow you to mark outliers manually, the median-of-all-10 method is (presumably) being used in all cases (and the fact that 1/2 of the PEs have been crossed out automatically is irrelevent).
Let's not confuse the calculation of the "signature PE" with that of the forecast high PE. Take $tock uses the median for the signature PE. If you decide to override the judgment and eliminate your own outliers (advanced mode only), it will revert to the average of the remaining data.
The PE data you see eliminated reflects ONLY the forecast high PE which, as the TSSW indicates, is the average of the lowest half or majority of the high PEs. We strike out the highest half or minority and average the lowest half or majority of both the low and high PEs.

Hi Ellis,
This feature currently is available in firefox. IE wouldn't recognize it though. I'll see if I can have it work in IE.
thanks.

Sunday night: couldn't get Take Stock to take a ticker, or a stock name in the advanced search; neithe Mac Safari nor Firefox would work.
Then I tried to write a message about it from Safari, but the SUBMIT, caused the message to disappear.
Every time I come here, I hate the technical dificulties; sorry to say, but better to say than for you not to know.

Etana, Thank you for the report. The first problem was probably related to an outage in the datafeed. I'm not aware that it was down, but your message sure sounds like it was. As for writing a message, I'm writing this response with the Windows version of Safari. It would be very helpful to me to know more details of the errors that you entountered with forum messages. |
