Welcome to our StockCentral workshop "Build a Better Portfolio in 10 Days." I'm Doug Gerlach, and I'll be your instructor for this two week session.
First, a bit of an introduction. I'm the President of ICLUBcentral Inc. We're the company that makes software and tools for investors and investment clubs such as Investor's Toolkit, Club Accounting, Stock Analyst, Stock Prospector, Classic Plus, Take Stock, and myiclub.com, as well as the operators of StockCentral.com. I'm also the author of five books about investing, the Internet, and investment clubs, and the Editor-in-Chief of the Investor Advisory Service newsletter published by ICLUBcentral. I've been teaching and helping to promote computerized investing and sensible investing techniques for the past 13 years.
Each business day over the next two weeks I'll be presenting a topic here in the Classroom section of StockCentral.com with the aim of helping you to fine-tune your existing stock holdings, whether in your individual portfolio or in your investment club portfolio. Each topic will contain one task that you should consider when reviewing, maintaining, or upgrading your portfolio of stocks. While I'm presenting one task a day, I don't expect that you complete that day's tasks before moving on to the next. In fact, it may take you a few hours, a few days, or even a few weeks to complete just one of the 10 steps to your satisfaction.
For the most part, the exact order of the 10 steps is not chiseled in stone, although some of the tasks must be completed before you move on to others. All of the sessions in the workshop will be accessible here in the Classroom while the workshop is ongoing, so feel free to ask questions about any of the topics as we go along. If you're at all unclear about any point that I make, ask for clarification. I'm here to answer your questions!
