Duke Energy Corporation (Duke Energy) is an energy company located in the Americas with a real estate subsidiary. The Company operates in six business units: Franchised Electric, Natural Gas Transmission, Duke Energy Field Services, Duke Energy North America (DENA), International Energy and Crescent Resources, LLC (Crescent). In May 2005, Duke Energy and Cinergy announced they entered into a definitive merger agreement. On May 4, 2006, the Company sold DENA's fleet of wholesale power generation assets outside the Midwest to a subsidiary of LS Power Equity Partners (LS Power). In August 2006, Vectren Corporation purchased Duke Energy's interest in Miller Pipeline Corporation. In April 2006, the Company merged with Cinergy. In October 2006, Fortis N.V. completed the acquisition of Cinergy Marketing & Trading, LP, a limited partnership, and Cinergy Canada, Inc, from Duke Energy. In January 2007, Spectra Energy Corp. completed its spinoff from Duke Energy. |
