Are there any provisions for an area we can upload files to?

For example, I have a list of Value Line Industries grouped by Value Line sectors. I get requests for this every so often. It seems appropriate to upload it to a common area to share with all.

One problem I've run into with organizing a large set of files is finding them again. On a 600 meg CD it was impossible to have another person unfamiliar with the files try to find anything on the CD. My solution was to create a Word document with a discription of the file and an embedded link to it. This allowed other users to not only locate the file, but also understand what the file could do for them.

Well ...

You can write a message and attach your file to it. Then, people who read your message (a description of the file) can then click easily to download the file.

I'm thinking that I probably should set up a special forum with a special file size limit to make this work best. Also, having all of the "contributed files" in one place would help in the organization. After time, we might put files in subgroups to help organize a little better.

The forum administration tools permit me to move things around, so it something gets sent to the wrong place, I can fix it.

I mentioned this in the admin thread, but I'll say it here, too: I don't think we need to make a separate forum just for uploads. Like Joe said, attaching files to your post is the way to go. Start a thread called, "Value Line Industries by Sector," for example, and upload your file. This gives people the opportunity to reply and discuss this list in the appropriate forum - not some "just for uploads" forum.

I'd encourage everyone to start uploading thier own files - SSGs, Stock pick lists, Value Analyses, favorite NFL cheerleaders, whatever - as it fosters discussion, which is exactly what we need at this stage.
