Thanks to all for the detailed looks at the test data files. Hopefully there will be more soon.

The attached ZIP file contains a selection of SSG files from the new STOCKcentral.com datafeed.

Please download and look them over, and please ask questions, report problems, etc.

Joe,

I downloaded the files just fine.  Opened it and used one of the SSG's. Sorry for being so late but I have been in and out of town.

Joe

I have looked at several companies the data acquisition worked quite well. I agree with Zinc that the institunional and insider data inclusion is nice. Will continue. Being the first time exploring was somewhat confusing but it will get better - I hope.

Joe, have the problems been addressed? Do you need additional testing and data?

We should have a new set of files available for testing early next week.

BI/SDS has dividends listed for 2005 GE as .91 per share. Hesmscott has 1.08 for 2005. All other years for dividends have significant discrepancies.
2005 sales have about a $1B difference148,019 (SDS) vs 149,702 (Hemscott)
Also upon clicking alt-d in sec 2,there is no debt showing for GE
Trailing 4 Q eps is 1.90 on SDS vs 1.85 on Hemscott
BTW I am using tk 5.1.3 if that matters

>So I downloaded the zipfile to my desktop and extracted the files.  In TK I choose file/import company/from my computer.  I chose SSG on top and desktop on the bottom, but nothing shows up on the right.

Then I tried file finder choosing ssg and C Fixed.  Nothing shows up.  Nothing shows up choosing zip either.

Obviously I'm doing something wrong since the rest of you are finding the files.

If I try file/import from my computer then choose zip file and desktop, the zip file shows up.  But how do I get to a specific file?  Obviously I haven't done this stuff for a long time <

Nancy, if in the beginning you'll just leave TK alone and just unzip the file after you've downloaded it and then with your mouse drag-and-drop the unzipped icon onto your Toolkit icon, Toolkit will open and the SSG will be looking at you.

Thanks for the report. I'll report back here on the resolution/explanation of these differences.

I miss the analyst's projections that we receive on the SDS service.

Another question, why did the files open  in Toolkit 4 rather than Toolkit5?

If you downloaded a file from the data page and it opened with Toolkit 4, that is because your "File Associations" are set to do that.

To change to Toolkit 5, you'll need to change the file association:
1.  Click Start, Control Panel and select the Folder Options control panel
2.  Click the File Types tab
3.  Scroll down the Registered File Types list and highlight SSG File.
4.  Click the Change button to change the Opens With program.
5.  Select Toolkit 5 on the list of programs (if Toolkit 5 isn't on the list, browse to find it.)
6.  Click OK

Now, SSG files should open with Toolkit 5 rather than Toolkit 4.

Hi Joe, It is good to see you staying busy!

I have one suggestion related to the interface for the data files. One of my club members was wondering what happened to the location. They would mouse-over on the data tab, see the Company Report menu item, then click on that hope to find the SSG data files...

I know one should click on the data tab instead. It would be easier to understand if the menu items show both the Company Report menu item and the SSG data files.

Thanks,

Brad Taylor

Thanks for your suggestion, Brad.

Navigation is a high priority.  The "data" page will be revamped so that SSG download, Company Reports, Ticker finder, etc. all appear on one page and with no drop-downs.  We'll also have a direct link to the forum for discussion of that stock.

We'll be doing something similar on the "community" page, too.
