The attached ZIP file contains a selection of SSG files from the new STOCKcentral.com datafeed.

Please download and look them over, and please ask questions, report problems, etc.

Attachment: ssgfiles20060831.zip

Joe, the annual data for WMT for 2005 is missing the high and low price for the year.

Why are there no prices/price bars for HD for year 2005?
Thanks.

That's what we in the technical field refer to as "an error" and that's why we're asking everyone to test!

The files download just fine. What a relief to see Insiders Percentageand Institutional Holdings!!

Can you share how you plan to present the choice of company files for download (other than thru the zip file method?

Lookin' good.

The ZIP file is ONLY for this testing. We haven't gotten into a lot of detail, but I'd expect to see something like currently exists on the BetterInvesting site where you can enter a ticker and go to the company page.

If you'll dig into Toolkit's options, I think that you'll already see a way to configure for a STOCKcentral (ICLUBcentral) data service. I would expect future versions and upgrades of the ICLUBcentral products all to include lots of ways of getting access to the data. That would include direct data downloads, upgrades, one-click access to the appropriate ticker forum, etc. We're also going to be encouraging people to upload their SSG, SDF and ITK files and we'll have software that automatically computes a "consensus" SSG.

Joe,

After going into preferences and changing to Iclub data subscription..when will this be working?

It appears when you hit on update prices it works but when you go to update companies, it tells you that you are not subscribed.

However, it works well!

We'll make an announcement when this is ready. It's at least a week away.

I notice Toolkit says the data source (on the Basic Data tab) is "StkCntrl".  Why not spell it out "StockCentral"?

There is someone besides just the few of us here testing this, isn't there?

MSFT is missing some annual data for the 2006 fiscal year.

MSFT showns the 2005 annual dividend as $3.40 but BI's SDS data shows it as $3.32 (which I believe is correct).

I think it would be even better if "special" dividends (like MSFT's $3/sh in 2005) were normalized out of the annual data.

Joe,

This is the sort of issue I refer to when I keep requesting a "to" feature.  There have been about a dozen posts here and it's not clear which one you're responding to.  Or maybe I'm just not figuring it out.  Could there maybe be a link to the message you're responding to or something?  Both features are available in the BI Community.

So I downloaded the zipfile to my desktop and extracted the files.  In TK I choose file/import company/from my computer.  I chose SSG on top and desktop on the bottom, but nothing shows up on the right.

Then I tried file finder choosing ssg and C Fixed.  Nothing shows up.  Nothing shows up choosing zip either.

Obviously I'm doing something wrong since the rest of you are finding the files.

If I try file/import from my computer then choose zip file and desktop, the zip file shows up.  But how do I get to a specific file?  Obviously I haven't done this stuff for a long time

This software doesn't have the concept of "to" in it.

Quoting helps?

AA (Alcoa) also has data missing. This time it's the entire SALES column in the Annual Data screen.

Did you extract the SSG files to your desktop?  Look at the desktop and see if they are there.  If they aren't on the desktop, you'll have to navigate to the folder where they are and then import

Then I tried file finder choosing ssg and C Fixed.  Nothing shows up.
Maybe you really didn't extract the SSG files.

If I try file/import from my computer then choose zip file and desktop, the zip file shows up.
I can't get Toolkit to import directly from a ZIP file, though it appears it's supposed to be able to do that.  Irv is watching, so perhaps he can tell us how to do this.

Nancy,
I downloaded the zipped files to the desktop and had the same results you described. If you extract the zipped files, there is a folder "ssgfiles20060831" and inside that folder is a folder "ssgfiles." I copied that folder to the desktop and sent a copy to My Documents. I cannot import into Toolkit from the Desktop folder, but I can import them all from the folder sent to My Documents by selecting File==>Import several companies==>Other data files.

If the individual ssg files are on the desktop I can import them.

After reading Shanna's reply, I simply downloaded the zip file, then extracted it to a new file in My Docs called Test SSGs.  From there, all files opened fine with a double-click because I had the files associated with Toolkit.  No need to "import".

Then I realized that I would never be able to catch errors on the WHOLE SSG, so I concentrated on the data from the data entry screens.  And missing data is causing missing graph lines, etc.

Missing Data on all files:

Basic screen:  No preferred stock which I found unusual for some of those companies.

Annual and Quarterly screens - missing info:

AXP - all sales

DD - 03 04 tax rate

HD - 05 hi/lo prices

HPQ - 02 tax rate

MSFT - 05 annual info

PG - 05 annual info

WMT - 05 hi/lo prices

AIG - all sales

BA - 97 03 & 05 tax rate, 05 3Q tax rate

DIS - 00 01 tax rate

GM - 01 04 & 05 tax rate

HON - 01 02 tax rate

PFE 03 - tax rate

VZ - 01 tax rate

Hope that helps.

Lynn O.

Thanks, Shanna.  It worked fine once I moved it to my documents.  So now I can get one of those SSG files by either importing it or just double clicking on it.  Live and learn

 Joe,

This time I was able to copy the whole message.  There must have been some odd fonts on the last one I tried.

So I downloaded the zipfile to my desktop and extracted the files.  In TK I choose file/import company/from my computer.  I chose SSG on top and desktop on the bottom, but nothing shows up on the right.
>>Did you extract the SSG files to your desktop?  Look at the desktop and see if they are there.  If they aren't on the desktop, you'll have to navigate to the folder where they are and then import<<

They were on the desktop, but TK didn't find them.  When I followed Shanna's suggestion and moved them to my documents I had no problem.  But even there, TK doesn't seem to find them using the "find all" feature.

>>This software doesn't have the concept of "to" in it.

yes quoting helps but not everyone likes to quote.  Is there any way at all that there could be a link to the message responded to?  In long message threads, the lack of such a function could be a nightmare.  In the BI community, people respond to my messages long after they have gone out of my head.  It would be impossible to continue the discussion if I couldn't get to the original message.

"StockCentral" won't fit in the available space on the SSG form (the "Data taken from" field at the top of page 1).

Toolkit expects a single SSG file in the ZIP, not multiple files.
