With Lehman probably a thing of the past BAC and Barclays have stepped away. BAC is focusing on Merrill Lynch. Along with the Countrywide purchase do you think BAC is positioning itself to become the next behemoth bank? BTW,  I own BAC.

At first glance it looks like they are copying the unsuccessful Citibank format.  But, it should help them with wealth management & International.  And, they are buying a franchise at less than half of what they wanted to pay a year or so ago.  Also, now BAC, C & JPMorgan/Chase are all playing in the same ballpark.

I'm not a buyer, yet.  But, maybe this time it will be different!
