If you haven't seen the announcement, Toolkit 6 is now available for sale -- you can buy it and download it right now!  Toolkit 6 has a bushel basket full of new feature, so I thought that we should start a thread to discuss them.

What do you like about the new features in Toolkit 6?

I think that I'm going to like the new Roster of Quality Companies display that is displayed automatically as a Portfolio.  You can click on the "Index" column to sort in quality order.  This will display all of the "10s" at the top of the list.  Double click on a company to load it for analysis.

What do you like in TK6?

Ok, so far. New to Toolkit, I used SA. One problem I have is the icons on the top are mixed up. "Preferences" will get me to "comparisons." I can just use the main menu above them instead, so it's OK. I have done four ssg's and set up one portfolio so far. I switched back to five years from ten, the set up on ten will take a bit of getting used to.

I notice the option in Toolkit 5 to open a stock study using the "Stock Check List" is gone in Toolkit 6.  Was that intentional?

I also notice that the built-in URLs (accessable via the WEB button) can not be edited or deleted.  Seems like that will be a problem as those URLs become stale.

Yes, you can install the program on two of your computers.

We removed the Check List since it was of limited value to most users.

I also notice that the built-in URLs (accessable via the WEB button) can not be edited or deleted.  Seems like that will be a problem as those URLs become stale.

The built-in web links are now hard-coded into the program, so we can update them via the auto-updater.  Any other links that you add can be edited and deleted as necessary. Since most users never edit their links, this way we can always ensure that they're current, and users who want to add more can do so freely.

I don't see the problem with the icons on top on my computer or any of the others here in the office -- I suspect it's your display settings. Are you using something other than the standard 96 dpi display settings in Windows? You can file a support request at http://www.iclub.com/support/ and we can investigate further.

Thanks for your note. I use Vista with 1200x1600, and a 22" monitor. 3 gig memory. Norton 360. I recall a setting you mentioned, but years ago and with XP. Darned if I can find anything like that with Vista and "Control Panel." But maybe the problem is with the beta ie 8. I am having problems with the default font size. I shipped out an email to my nephew who has a degree in computer science. Maybe he can shed a little light on the problem, but I can still use the program ok. If you get other people with the same problem, I'll find out that way, (I hope)

OK, thanks. My nephew says "Personalize" Never would have guessed it was there. Reset it 96 and it works fine now. All fonts are too small now, so maybe I have to change the resolution. Am 66 and wear tri-focals, that's why I changed the dpi. Did it just recently, now I remember! Can anyone make the DJI go back up 450 so I can start my day over again?

The Help File indicates you are able to plot 7 new parameters on the front side graph.   I do not find Cash Flow, Cash Flow / Share and Long Term Debt.  Shares, Net Income, Dividends and Book Value are available.  How can I plot  CF, CF/Sh and LT Debt?

We had to remove the Cash Flow and Debt items from the graph because of issues with the database and the data entry dialog box. We plan to add them back in one of the first maintenance releases.

I just have to make the following statement, RE:  Manual.   I looked at the online version and liked what I saw.  I have ordered the hardcopy, but I was concerned that it would contain mostly clip art and photos, page after page.  Very happy that this fluff was not included.  I hope you keep up the good work.

This might already be available but can window shoppers read the TK6 manual prior to buying?

Shares outstanding, dividends, book value do not appear on on the graph for many of the stocks even though there is data (show as a number at the bottom of the graph). No change with the first update....

Susan

Can you identify some of the companies that do not show the graph plots for the optional parameters?  I find they do show for all the companies I have tried.   I have found some do require adjusting the scale to allow the plots to show.

Susan, Dan is right that you can bring some of these into view by clicking once or twice on Add Scale from the toolbar.  However, Susan is still right in that some of these graphs still are off plot and don't show up on some companies, no matter what you do.    I know it has been reported in the past, hope they will find a way to solve it soon or give us a workaround.   Gene Rooks

This happens *every time* for me when I open a saved Stock Study and try to add some of the Additional Data lines. I reported it as a bug in the Infirmary a few days ago.

From the The Toolshed forum at StockCentral.com, Susan Maciolek writes:

Here are a few: INTC (no Sh.Outst, Div or Net Income), FAST (no SO, Div), IR (no SO, Div, NI), DHR (no SO,Div, NI) for starters.

Adjusting the scale does not help....

Hmmm, each of these work okay for me.  I am using Stock Central data, Vista Ultimate and 1280 x 1024 Pixels.   Seems strange.

Hi, Susan-

In Preferences > Stock Study, try selecting the "Scaled" option instead of "On Values" in the "Initially place lines" section. This way, all the additional items should appear on the graph. Note: I think that this only works the first time you open a company, and it won't work on saved companies.

However, if you select the "Set Graph to Values" option on the Visual Analysis popup screen, you'll lose them again, since there's no way to go back and forth between Scaled and On Values right now.I do want to change that Set Graph to Values option so that you can switch back and forth.
