Last night When I went to update company data in NAIC TakeStock (the desktop version), it didn't work like it used to. Typically I can see the information updating, company by company, as the update proceeds. Not this time.
Also, the "Save" button doesn't work for new companies. When I enter a ticker symbol for a company for which I don't already have data saved, nothing happens. The data doesn't get saved and the usual prompt telling me the data has been saved doesn't appear?
What can be done about this? |

Jim:
Regarding Take $tock’s behavior, the date that appears in
the upper right corner is the probably the date that’s in the data’s
date field. So, if the data has not been replaced recently, it will reflect the
older date. (That’s my guess. I don’t know what happened when the
software was modified, at NAIC’s request, to use the ICLUB/Morningstar
data.)
As for the update, I guess you found another glitch in the
modified software. I’m sure Dan Abraham will get on it like white on rice
when he gets wind of it. Obviously, without the behavior you report
missing, all the fun is gone from portfolio management.

Apparently, as it turns out, the length of the field in the NAIC TS database for the "reference" field in the SSG file is limited, and "Morningstar" is too long to be stored in the db. This slight change in the SSG file causes NAIC TS to not save new companies or data. We're adjusting the field in the SSG file right now, so as soon as that goes into effect, TS should work again.
Or something like that....
ICLUB TS is not affected by this.
