BASIC STOCK STUDY WORKSHOP
INFOSYS TECHNOLOGIES LTD. (INFY)
WRAP UP
Ralph Seger, CFA
I believe my SSG. However, based on over 50 years of experience in investing both for myself and as a professional investment counselor managing assets for clients I do not wish to “bet the farm” on a non diversified portfolio. I and my investment club plan to ease into INFY especially at current depressed prices. The potential red flag that I see is the word wide pending recession. What this will do to the price of INFY and its income statement I have no way of knowing. Never the less I am reasonably confident of the long-term prospects for INFY.
Investors should check the home page at www.infosys.com for current information. They should also check the Internet for publication of fiscal year and quarterly results posting results in Tool Kit quarterly and annual data cites. Use PERT to evaluate results. Taking into consideration the current weak global economic picture be wary of dumping a stock just because of weak metrics. Read The Wall Street Journal, Fortune, Business Week, Barron’s and reliable Internet sources for news. Avoid those publications which proclaim future prospects without quoting data and interpretation of data. Avoid cable TV “experts” who proclaim the future without citing data and logic. Remember the definition of an expert. X is an unknown quantity and a spurt is a drip under pressure. |

There appears to be a data discrepancy between the Hemscott, Value Line, and S&P. hemscott reports the dividends for 2004 and 2005 as zero. Both Value Line and S&P report $0.37 in 2004 and $0.15 in 2005. In 2006, Hemscott reports $0.41, Value Line and S&P reports $0.53. I would expect some discrepancies, but these seem out of line. If you use Value Line or S&P data you get a slightly higher PAR and Total Return in TK. Ron Spruell |

Ron, I use Hemscott for the original data. For subsequent quarterly data I go to Yahoo Finance and look for a earnings release that has the whole set of numbers. I also use Yahoo Finance historical prices to retreive the dividends declared. I do not know why the descrepency. Ralph |

We are working with Hemscott to resolve this. |
