I'm hoping that it's just me, but I'm having difficulty navigating the community forums in the way that I would like to do so.
What I would like to do is start with a list of the topics with new posts since the last time I visited them. Then I would like to be able to visit each of those forums in turn, reading the new posts.
Here's what I have been doing. If I click on Active Topics, I get what I believe are the topics with new posts. I then click on the first topic in the list and get the new post(s) in that topic. If I then click on "next", I don't get the next Active Topic, but usually get dumped out to one of the main topic lists. In order to continue with my list of Active Topics, I have to hit the back button and then select the next Active Topic in the list. I have to repeat the back and forth until I've exhausted the Active Topics.
Is there a better way to do this?

Sure, no problem! Instead of clicking Active Topics, click Not Read.

In order for that to work for me, I need to be able to flag everything as "read" in order to get a fresh start. Is there a way to do that?

| No, there is no 'mark all read' function. That's been requested, though, and I hope that it will be available sometime soon from the developers. |

Ira,
I rely on the "Active Topics" link. When I'm done reading a topic, I click on Active Topics to get me back to that list.
I also like to display the topic with the most recent message first.
When you are viewing a topic, "next" takes you to the next topic in whatever forum you are in. It doesn't take you to the next "Active Topic." I'll make that suggestion to the forum sofware developers. Maybe we'll get a solution ... |

Sure ...
If you are viewing a topic, you can only reply to the topic.
But, if you are in the "topic view" of a forum -- that's the view in which you can see all of the topics -- click the "Start a new topic" link. It's just above the dark blue horizontal bar labelled Topics.
To get to the topic view when you are viewing a topic, click the name of a forum or forum group at the top. For example, right now I can see
Forums > Central Square > The Infirmary
at the top of this page. Clicking "Infirmary" will take me to the topic view in The Infirmary. If I click "Central Square" that takes me to a list of the forums in the Central Square group. Clicking "Forums" takes me to top where I can see all groups and all forums. If you started in one of the sub-groups, you'll only see what is in that sub-group.
If this isn't enough help, just ask another question! |

I tried following your directions and ended up adding NEOG under LOW. I could not find the "start a new topic" at the appropriate level.
Can you help me out here?

Jeff,
You did successfull start a new topic, but you started it in the LOW forum.
There isn't a NEOG forum, so I'll have to add one.
FWIW, the forums are organized as
