We're now almost exactly one week away from the opening sessions of InvestEd 2007.  It starts with breakfast on Saturday morning.

But, while that's the official start, InvestEd will be well underway by now.

On Friday afternoon, volunteers will gather for an afternoon of Director Training.  In truth, you don't have to be a director of anything to attend.  The education is for volunteers, and mainly for those who teach or help organize.  If that fits you, you're eligible.

And, on Friday evening we will have an informal hello/welcome/good to see you again get together.  Whew!  We'll have a cash bar and a place where we can gather, chat and have fun.

The excitement is building ...

We're now 2 days removed from InvestEd 2007. What great 2 1/2 days they wre. Several new classes, which I really appreciated. Bart Womack's macro economics session was superb as were Doug Gerlach's sessions. The coming enhancements to StockCentral are truly exciting, as is the new software - now in Beta. Of course, the best part was meeting and greeting investors from across the nation. Those whose posts have been read with interest - being able to put a face with a name was great. The disappointment for me was not being able to attend each class, it was difficult to pick and choose among the many great classes offered. I'm looking forward to InvestEd 2008! (perhaps here the identity of the 'Gazette' editor will be revealed) :)
Thanks to the entire organization.

The first Invest Ed was a huge success!  Thanks to all for your dedication and efforts.  You turned the tide and provide a bright future, and reenergized those of us who attended.

Well, I'm pretty sure that the unknown gazetteer was in attendance.  I don't think that I actually ever saw him/her/it ... but I did notice some shadows flitting about.  I'm also short several hundred dollars that I slipped to Per Ostman ... and I didn't win the Street Pilot or learn the identity of the mystery gazetteer.

I did, though, see Kathleen and Jack Gallivan arguing over the notebook computer that Jack won!

Now, Joe, that was NOT an argument.

In fact, I had bought one of the lab computers from last year's CompuFest for our shared use and sharing DID cause a few complaints from time to time.  But now -- to each his own, and we couldn't be happier about it.

I will echo Karen O'Boyle's raves about the event and elaborate here on a comment that I already posted in the Compuserve Forum about Jack's attendance.

By the time I attended my first national investing event, it was a foregone conclusion that I would have a great time because I was already committed to the methodology and had met the community online.  That was not true for Jack when he agreed to come along to InvestEd and, as he was preoccupied with other matters, we didn't share a lot of anticipatory conversation about it ahead of time.  So I wasn't absolutely certain that he would enjoy it much or get completely into the spirit of things.

I'm thrilled to say that I needn't have worried.  Winning the laptop put the perfect cap on it, but it was clear to me before the end of Saturday that he was really involved and having fun.  So we are among the folks who have preregistered for InvestEd 2008, and we hope to see you all there.

Jack attended my very first class at InvestEd, and he asked a lot of good, thoughtful, probing questions.  He was seated back far enough that I couldn't read anything but JACK on his nametag.  Later I got close enough to read his last name.

It was clear from the questions and the twinkle in his eyes that he's a great guy.

He attended the "Exploring Your Inner Geek" class and we continued.  I had lunch with the two of you and he said that something he learned in that class (had absolutely nothing to do with investing) was worth the price of attendance.  I think that Jack was gobbling up items of interest.  That he one the computer put the two of you in the black!

I'm already looking forward to seeing the two of you next year!

No argument here!

Yes, Jack considers himself a geek by avocation, but it's a vocation for you and you outgeek him by a considerable margin.  He'll happily absorb any geeky tidbits you care to share.

>I'm already looking forward to seeing the two of you next year!

Thanks, Joe.  That goes double for us.

Let me chime in here. I can't begin to adequately express how great InvestEd 2007 was. Joe, Pam, Zinc, Randy, and everybody I am leaving off the list were all great hosts. Every class was very informative, even for somebody that has been doing stock analysis for years.

It was also great to meet the folks from Stock Central (and the other vendors), the SEC, and the corporate presenters. It is great to be able to ask questions directly to the company representatives.

Thanks for having me as a vendor. I talked to so many great people, I almost lost my voice on Saturday! (I quickly recovered.)

I can't believe how good the food was too.

I will see you all (or y'all as we say in here in the South) in Charlotte.

The InvestEd staff was so friendly and openly greeted all that attended. Now that I have met these folks in person, I have some great new friends.
