In just two short weeks, I will fly to Costa Mesa, CA to participate in a new investment education event: InvestEd 2007!
While InvestEd 2007 is a new event, it carries on the tradtion begun years ago, and which culminated last June with the production of CompuFest 2006 in Reno, NV. InvestEd 2007 is being put on by the same great team of people who were involved with CompuFest, but we've got some new stuff to accompany our proven approach to investor education.
Besides the great classes, the chance to meet with old friends and make new ones, the half-day of volunteer education, and the Saturday night Cyber Cafe, we're branching out a bit.
- We'll have participation by several organizations that serve needs of long-term fundamental investors: Manifest Investing, QUANT IX Software, Churr Software, and ICLUBcentral will join us and be available to show off their products and provide assistance.
- You'll get to meet and rub elbows with Mark Robertson, Matt Willms, Brad Taylor, Doug Gerlach, Dave Forgianni, Dan Abraham, Ellis Traub, Irv Roth and Robert Brooker.
- The SEC will attend, and John McCreery, Senior Counsel in the Commission’s Office of Investor Education and Assistance, will teach a couple of classes and be on hand to answer questions.
- Maury Elvekrog, long time author of the Repair Shop column will be in attendance, teaching and available to answer your questions.
- We may have a few surprise guests, too!
InvestEd 2007 begins bright and early on Saturday morning, August 18, and runs through Sunday afternoon. Our last class ends Sunday at 5:20 PM.
Volunteer Education: for those who want to come in early and hone their skills as organizers, teachers, and for other volunteer jobs, we're offering an afternoon of education!
Don't forget to join us informally on Friday night for some pre-event refreshments and conversation!
With only two weeks to go, I'm getting excited! I'll work off some of my nervous energy by posting a message each day, and I'll highlight something about InvestEd 2007. If you have questions, please ask. |
