Wayne,

One approach to this would be to get in touch with the Pittsburgh Chapter of BetterInvesting. You can meet people at their events and classes.

I'm also looking to join and investment club. I would like to do some research on individual clubs in my state or area (Orange County,CA). Better Investing seems to be the premiere resource for locating a club. Ideally, I would like to view a list of clubs myself and then cross reference that list with articles written about stand out clubs to get an idea of their relative performance.

I noticed a post by Gene Rooks on another thread which mentioned the FAC program and the fear of regulatory barriers getting in the way of their success. I understand the issue the SEC would have with non registered entities marketing or soliciting sale or investment in securities or "membership" to an underlying group that does so. However, why has this prevented a comprehensive list or tracking of clubs?

Hedge funds are barred from marketing themselves to me in traditional ways but there is no shortage of resources to find a list of funds and their performance and even a synopsis of their underlying investment portfolio.

Am I missing something?
